Meet Blacque Butterfly, Artist

Blacque Butterfly is a spoken word artist, singer, songwriter, entertainer, and activist. She uses her art ministry to inspire others to their path and calling. Her art crosses and closes cultural boundaries as she has shared the stage with national recording artist Raheem Devaughn Dead Pres to Peter Yarrow.

Her mission is to make good music and elevate her audience to a higher level of consciousness.

Blacque Butterfly is a native Oregonian born and raised in NE Portland.

She is the author of “Black girl can I comb your hair.”

She has released 2 CDs entitled Collide-A-Scope and Soul Warrior both available on Spotify

She has also hosted and facilitated Soulful Showcase for almost two decades, a showcase and open mic for performers and traveling artists. 

She is also a Right Brain teaching artist with Portland Public Schools.

She is a Certified OS Cohort Producer at Open Signal

In winter 2021-2022, she co-facilitated Hands Across the Table (HATT) with Mr. Bobby Fouther.

She has a series on cable media entitled On the Fly with Blacque Butterfly and will be documenting and recording Open Mic and Performances at both Isaka and Charlotte community spaces. She will serve as the Community Cultural Curator for the arts, facilitate training and performance activities in both building spaces, and provide narration and documentation of events.
